However, none of the hard workers agreed to replenish the team. Why? It turned out the whole thing in the inexpressiveness of the captain. Ishmael had not yet managed to prove himself, and his prestige among colleagues in the workshop left much to be desired. What to do, because there is still a place for one thing left on the boat? The output was prompted by the most unorganized and young company. Yoongi were ready for any work, just to get into the sea. Unfortunately, they have not yet been capable of anything, but the prestige of the captain did not bother them.
After a plentiful meal in the company of new comrades, Izmail went with the latest preparations to the shop of a local merchant, who supplied Kitoboev on the road. First of all, it was necessary to purchase fresh water and food, then a little wood to maintain a ship in uniform, and in the end it would not hurt to stock up on a drink to maintain a fighting spirit. At first glance, it seems that there is nothing complicated in the purchase of supplies, take more and more. But an experienced captain knows that this is the most important part of the trip. Take too little food and water, the team will not survive or even worse. Take too many, there is not enough space for production or other cargo, and sailors can relax from abundance. Even if everything is correctly calculated, no one is safe from surprises. In extreme cases, you can, of course, tighten the belts, but most sailors will rush better into swords than allow the captain to kill the albatross or drink sea water. The same applies to Skog, although it is not vital, but I swear, you definitely will not want to get stuck in the middle of the ocean with a too sober team.
The main goal remained unchanged, it was a mobile Dick, however, in order to start hunting, more people and better a ship, and most importantly, is needed information. But no one will share their secrets with the first oncoming. Respect and money were needed, fortunately, the captain knew how to earn both. At the exit from the shop, Izmail intercepted the newspaper’s boy to cope about the latest news and work offers. He was lucky, immediately came across a contract for the transportation of goods to the Azores, and he also read about rumors that whales were seen along the route. Having accepted the work, the captain decides that at first it will deliver the cargo, and take a hunt on the way back. Announcing his intentions to the team, and dividing the shares in the future prey (most of the Ishmael was expected, the hunter and the doctor were almost equally received, and Jung was content with the remnants), Kitoboy set off.
So it’s time to go to sea again. The path to Orta went without adventure, Jung coped with the duties of a raven nest, while Ishmael stood behind the helm. Some old sailor once told Izmail that hunting for whales is the same game in the bone: much in it depends on good luck, and even more depends on the bones. That old man was a shuler, but in something he was really right. There is really no excessiveness of Fortune. The sea changes literally before our eyes: in an instant it is calm and allows your people to aim better, and the next second the storm begins. Yes, and the whalers themselves seem to have six faces – you will never guess the hunter to throw a harpoon or not. But if the captain has “right” bones, that is, well -trained and trained people, then any line of the cube is useful.

From that first fight with practically newborn narwains, a lot of water flowed, the sailors became much more experienced: Harpuner learned to bind the prey and blind it, and Ishmael, in addition to directly hunting skills, studied navigation, craft and medicine to be able to replace any member of the team. Jung achieved the best successes, for himself he decided to become a master of processing of whale fat and learned to prepare a worship. Unfortunately, there was nowhere to do this on their ship. On this occasion, the captain decided to buy a new ship, where there would be a place to stoop the worship and even the cabin under the infirmary. Initially, the choice fell on a bark with a huge hold, but after long thoughts, the priority was given to the speed of the clipper.
A place appeared with the new ship for the new members of the team: Ishmael gave way to the helm, a more experienced sailor who could squeeze the maximum speed from the vessel, the most vigilant went to the crown of the nest, the COK was hired, an experienced carpenter was assigned to the hold, and a retired soldiers were even found in one of the taverns, who was entrusted with the departure for the tools. Only confused was that now the captain’s share from production has significantly decreased. Professionals demanded much more for their skills. Ishmael veterans who were with him from the very beginning were in gratitude for the fact that the captain had given them a chance at one time, they asked for much less than they deserved it. However, the issue of money excited him little, because making money at sea is not at all difficult.
In addition to the fact that the team was able to sell a ruff instead of a simple whale fat, they learned that the prices are the same everywhere and, moreover, these prices rarely cost on the spot. If you do not take the load to the first port, then you can significantly benefit from the transaction. Izmails began to offer contracts for the murder of especially dangerous sea creatures, but now that he had as many as three whales and a full team for them, the fights should have become much easier. But such an assumption was the highest degree of incorrect. On one whaleboat, they went out only against the youngest and weakest whales, and even though they often found themselves in battle alone against the three, the only well -aimed blow of the harpiner was enough to defeat the whale. Now they began to resist the most huge and vicious creatures of the oceans.
Finally, the name Ishmael became quite known, and people themselves began to look for his meetings to tell the most interesting news. Including about Rachel, a ship that saved him after a fight with a mobile Dick. So soon the trace of the most white whale will appear. What was very useful, because the life of Kitoboy began to get a little bored with him. He refused orders for the search for ships and transporting goods first, there was enough money. Then he stopped looking for new habitats of whales, for the same reasons. Although sometimes rumors turned out to be incorrect and instead of whales the team came across sharks, but the battle with them was not much different. In the end, the captain began to deliberately start a ship in pirate waters. Previously, he would not have gone there under any pretext, they were still ordinary sailors, not soldiers, and whaling tricks did not work with people. So it was much easier and safer to pay off or try to escape, but now he was ready to rush to the rampage, if only the blood was breaking through again. Unfortunately, sea robbers could not live up to expectations, although they were not a copy of whales, they fought approximately the same.
Various events on the ship brought a little diversity: one of the sailors asked home, sometimes they found a map with treasures, there were such failures that the team began to look for “ion”, sometimes there were incidents associated with too long in the sea, and they were given from women. But even these accidents began to be repeated after a while. Izmail began to leave the usual trade and commercial routes, and there he met the challenges who offered him to go in the footsteps of the most famous navigators, about which he heard: James Cook, George Bass and others. Such challenges did not provide a lot of activity, but they were interesting in their own way, and had many ways to develop.
That is why Ishmael was so delighted with new clues about mobiles Dick. He knew that it was most likely his last battle, but he went to her with joy, because he had already managed to try everything that the seven seas could offer. On his last journey, he learns about the fate of Rachel, fight with pirates, plunges into Indian legends and meet his fate.

Strictly speaking, in it, albeit not directly, but all the same, all aspects of the game are reflected and even a certain assessment is given. But to fully understand this text and, what lies behind it, you can only get acquainted with the game, and this is not entirely correct. The game Nantucket, based on the boot screen, positions itself as a "seaworthiness of a strategic game". This is probably a new (well, or very little -known) genre in which the Picaresque Studio command works. It is based on the story told by German Melville (1819-1891) in his monumental novel “Moby Dick, or White Whale” (1851), which with some stretch allows you to attribute this game to the Games of Licenses Games, although this is not so.
Training, during which … uh … training the main mechanics of the game briefly retells the finals of the book, so take care of the spoilers to a hundred -fingered novel. After Izmail, it makes us understand that the burden of hunting for a white whale goes to him. But in order to start the plot, he, as a young captain, needs to get more prestige.
Prestige is one of several player attributes. First of all, he affects what team he can hire. Initially, the captain has 10 prestige units, which means he can afford a team of a total level of not more than 10, for example, three sailors of 5, 3 and 2 levels. This prestige is earned during tasks or random events, but cannot exceed 100.
Team members can be hired in port taverns. Depending on the level of the tavern, it will have sailors up to 10 levels, to the 5th or only Yoongi. They are divided into four groups. Garpuners are conditional soldiers, sailors – defenders, craftsmen – support, and scientists – doctors. But each group also has a division. Harpuners are treated directly by the harpoons themselves, those who are most effective in battle with whales and sharks, soldiers – allow you to install guns on the ship, and are also effective in battles against people. Hunters are neutral and can get food in harbors. Sailors are divided into those who are most effective when managing a ship on a global map, who can best protect the whaleboat in battle and who can build a captain’s cabin. Masters are divided into coks, handicrafts and conditional "combat carpenters" who can provide effective support in battle. Scientists are divided approximately as well as capable of building a infirmary and treating in battle. The fifth category – Yoongi, do not know anything, but have a level of 0, which means they can be recruited in whole packs.

But just like the team depends on the ship, the ship depends on the team. There are several compartments on the ship, for example: a rings a nest, a hold, quarterdek, etc.p. Each of them can be improved to get bonuses to characteristics. And there are also special departments like infirmary, galley and guns. They can be built and improved only if the team has a person with a special skill that allows you to build such a compartment. At the same time, to buy a ship above, the level needs to be built or improved, although before buying a new ship where there is a place for them, you will not be able to use them. It sounds a little difficult, but this is only at first glance, in fact, everything turns out to be quite simple.

There are three types of ships: small, medium and large. Types of ships a little more: schooners, brigantines, cliperes and so on. It was assumed that the purchase of ships will be gradual, which is also facilitated by a confusing pumping system. However, I managed to quite simply accumulate money and create improvements to buy the fastest ship immediately after the default. By the way, I recommend that you give preference to speed, not the size of the hold. As it turned out, the money in the game is not a problem. Very soon there will be nothing to spend on as soon as all five improvements for each compartment end. I also recommend immediately ordering upgrades in all possible ports, and this is Nantakak, Peterhead (Scotland) and Honolulu (Hawaii), in other ports of improvement you cannot buy.
The next important aspect of the game is resources. Food and water are necessary for the team and you are alive. Skog exists to maintain morality, and wood for the current repair of the ship on the way. If the resources (not counting the grog) end in the sea, then everyone will die. But the game will offer before this some extreme exits from the situation. For example, when exhausting food reserves, you may be invited to kill Albatross, which is one of the worst sifte. The most boring is the transportation of cargo, there is nothing to add to this. Next, a search mission, apparently you will have to look for those who died from boredom delivering a load. It is necessary to go on the course of the missing ship, and at some point its remains will be discovered. More interesting checks of rumors about whales, with their help it will be possible to set the habitats of whales. But be careful, rumors are not always true and you can easily run into sharks, but they are not only very dangerous, but they also bring a little. Over time and levels, the newspapers will be asked to kill especially guilty marine inhabitants. That’s in general then and all. At first, of course, you can do everything in a row. But it is better to concentrate on your profile industry.
Global card is a card. In the literal sense, even the table on which it lies is visible. Formally, there are all seven seas on it, in fact, it covers the territory from the pole to the pole and from New Zealand in the west to Madagascar in the east. You can move anywhere and do anything, so again strictly speaking, the nantica is a game with the open world. What is in this open, obviously content-dependent, world? Several ports where you can go behind replenishment of supplies, teams, fresh news and improvement of the ship. In addition, at the entrance to the port, you automatically repair the ship and treat people, as well as sell stocks of whale fat and brovan. It should be borne in mind that the prices are not the same everywhere and they are constantly changing. So sometimes it makes sense to deliver the goods to a more distant port. The game also provides for the possibility of creating docks where you can get water, I write wood, but it is completely useless, since in ten cases out of ten you will have time to get to the port.
And of course whales. At first it will be difficult to find them. But after you fulfill enough missions for their detection, their habitat will be applied to the card, in addition, during travel, you can detect migration paths. But be careful, whales will not wait for you forever. In different places they live at different times. So if you are going to fish in advance, whether you have time to arrive before the whales migrate to another place.

So after throwing the bones will have to decide which cards to play. Harpuners are designed to damage. The abilities of sailors protect allied maps and remove the actions of the enemy. Masters can be transferred to a cube or directly choose one of the ally’s abilities. Doctors treat and even revive allies. In addition, failure cards can be switched, if necessary, to a Jungi map, which has two weak attacking abilities. The captain can switch between all classes open from him. In turn, sea creatures are also divided into different types with different abilities, someone can send everyone at once, and someone is being treated in battle, so be prepared. Well, then everything depends on who you hired into your team, how you set up cards in the boals, and from good luck, of course.
And these opponents appear only in plot or side tasks
But do not think that you are omnipotent in the ocean, and your only concern is to create reasons for writing a red book. In the sea there is a lot of both beautiful and terrible. There are many places with dangerous waters, insidious whirlpools and iceberg on the map. And if you put an inexperienced Jung for the helm, then wait for problems. By the way, while you are checking your steering, and that an experienced sailor not only has a quarterdek, but also be in a crow’s nest, the masters should be in a galley and a hold, and also monitor the outburst. And it is necessary that the doctor is in charge of a lasaret, and the soldier with tools. Therefore, the battle with professional robbers is fraught with consequences. Technically, the battle is not very different from hunting for whales. Also three by three, only now you are not commanding not whaleboats, but by individual people, which significantly reduces tactical variability. In addition, the skills of harpuners do not work against people, they will need soldiers. But if it seems to you that you, commanding your schooner, laid a dozen whales and sharks, and you are not afraid of anything, I hurry to cool your ardor. Sea creatures adjust to your level, but there are no pirates. Over time, you, of course, be able to defeat them in battle, but this is only over time.
Tasks in the game are divided into three types: plot, actually hunting for mobile mobiles, side and contracts. About the contracts that are being taken in the newspapers, I have already talked. Side tasks in general are very much like the plot structure in their structure, their difference is that they are so optional that there is a risk not to find them at all. They can only be detected by moving away from the usual trade and commercial ways. These tasks will offer you to follow in the footsteps of famous sailors, to find out their fate and secrets. For example, on the east coast of Africa, James Cook’s quest begins, and on the western bank of South America – the story of George Bass.
Do not forget to hand over completed contracts
The plot tasks are not quite a mission, as a rule, there is no gameplay in them. Rather, this is a text quest where you are given to read the tie, and then expect your actions. And really there is variability here, although the final result will always be the only one, the path along which you pass, will be yours. At the same time, the options for your actions and answers often depend on the available skills, resources and money. For example, starting one of the tasks, I forgot to unload the food supplies, but it turned out to be in my hands. The Indians met me off the coast and I offered them as a sign of respect for such a stock of whale meat, which has enough for my team for several years. Thanks to this, I managed to complete the task peacefully, otherwise I would have to fight. And there are many such examples. By the way, random events that are often accommodated with the player are made in the same manner and with the same variability.
Everything becomes much easier with money. A very realistic game
I am not a connoisseur of literature, especially in English, but what is there, the last time I read the book as much as half a year ago. But the texts in the plot, and not only plot tasks are read as excerpts from an excellent adventure novel. Do not understand correctly, they are very small, but so well stylized as artistic speech. “Salt covering the walls and rotting the remnants of torches made it clear that the sea has repeatedly flooded this passage, and there has been no one here for many years”. Perhaps I have not read in games for a long time, preferring to wave iron and fade in vain in vain. But from the passage of the Nantakate, I have sensations similar to those that arose while reading Robinson Cruise or Treasure Island in childhood. I would like to escape from the stuffy city, from my stuffy life, from this stuffy time. Inhale the salty sea air and go to sea to the sea, to be alone with the endless ocean and gain freedom.
Get out of the comfort zone, it turned out to be interesting. It turns out that you can enjoy the game that does not cost four thousand rubles.
